Title: Once Movie Soundtrack
My brother introduced this soundtrack to me. No, I have not seen the movie, and I don't have much intention to see it. Looks like its an Irish indies release, maybe??
The soundtrack has completely seized my ears, though, even putting Onitsuka Chihiro's Las Vegas album on hold. It's not the sort of music I normally listen to, and some of the songs start off rather slow, but, as I learned, the chorus' are worth waiting for. They grip you with raw emotion and bittersweet melodies that utilize the minor scale really well.
Stand out tracks are "Lies", "Fallen From the Sky," "Falling Slowly," and "When Your Minds Made Up." Also, irish band, Transient have a song "Gold" that is featured on the album as well
Glen Hansard's voice is pleasant, but can get so raw in "Lies" and "Say It To Me," and "Leave,"it's gripping. I shocked me at first, but it was powerful. The songs are tender and sweet, but also moving, and as I said, gripping and powerful.
Hansard's acoustic guitar is complimented nicely by Marketa Irglova's soft vocals and piano accompaniment. Haunting melodies and well-handled emotion. Definitely music I would recommend.
